Restaurante e Cachaçaria Mangue Seco is a mandatory stop for those who visit Rua do Lavradio. The house today occupies two mansions from the end of the 19th century, completely renovated with a rustic decor and bohemian atmosphere. In addition to the restaurant, the place houses a complete cachaçaria, with more than 100 labels from various Brazilian states.
Brazilian cuisine, especially fish and seafood, are the highlight of the gastronomy of Mangue Seco. One of its specialties is the seafood stew served with rice, pirão, and oil palm farofa. Another suggestion, also for two people, is the shrimp bobó served with rice, pirão, and oil palm farofa. For dessert, one of the delights is banana flambéed with the restaurant’s proprietary cachaça, with cream ice cream.
